Floyd’s Truck Center is excited to announce a new partnership with Northeastern Junior College (NJC) that will significantly benefit students in NJC’s diesel technology program. The partnership, unveiled last Friday, will provide students with access to Freightliner’s Get Ahead program, ensuring they stay current with the latest technology in the trucking industry.
Sid Johnson, General Manager of Floyd’s Sidney, Neb., location, and Sarah Quijas from the Scottsbluff, Neb., location, visited NJC to discuss the impact of the sponsorship. This collaboration, spearheaded by NJC’s Program Coordinator Jimmy Atencio, will enhance job readiness by offering professional technical training and system certifications that are recognized across Freightliner dealerships nationwide.
Floyd’s will supply NJC with the latest training tools, mock-up motors, and provide internship and summer work opportunities for students. These resources aim to simulate real-world shop environments and prepare students for the high demands of the industry.
Floyd’s, which has been serving the trucking community since 1948 and operates locations in Sidney, Scottsbluff, Cheyenne, Rapid City, and Fort Pierre, is committed to equipping future technicians with the skills needed in a rapidly evolving field. With advancements such as hybrid and autonomous trucks on the horizon, the partnership will ensure NJC students are well-prepared for a dynamic career in diesel technology.
As Johnson highlighted, “We’re here to invest in your future and provide you with the resources to succeed in one of the most exciting times in the trucking industry.”
