At Floyd’s Truck Center, we are thrilled to announce a significant enhancement to the hands-on learning experience for students at Northeastern Junior College (NJC). We recently facilitated a major donation to NJC’s Diesel Technology program—a 2011 Freightliner Model 114SD Heavy Duty Truck, generously provided by Daimler Trucks North America, the parent company of Freightliner. This truck, previously utilized at Daimler’s Portland, Oregon, training facility, is now set to become a key component in NJC’s curriculum, thanks to our continued support of the program.
On Wednesday, Sid Johnston, our Fixed Operations Director who oversees all eight Floyd’s Truck Center locations and serves as the General Manager of our Sidney, Nebraska, store, along with Cody Bohl, the Service Manager from our Scottsbluff, Nebraska, store, had the honor of visiting NJC. Our visit had a dual purpose: to officially present the Freightliner truck to the college and to engage directly with the diesel technology students. We were excited to discuss the potential career paths available at Floyd’s Truck Center and to share insights into the opportunities that await them in the trucking industry.
This donation represents our ongoing commitment to supporting education and fostering the next generation of diesel technicians. We look forward to seeing how the truck will contribute to the students’ hands-on learning and to building stronger connections with NJC and its talented students.
