Floyd’s Truck Center Supports Expansion of CDL Program at WNCC in Sidney

Floyd’s Truck Center partnered with Western Nebraska Community College (WNCC) and other stakeholders to support the expansion of WNCC’s Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) program, set to launch in Sidney in Fall 2024.

Thanks to a U.S. Department of Labor grant, secured with support from Representative Adrian Smith, the CDL program will expand to Sidney and Northeast Community College in Norfolk. The funding enabled WNCC to hire additional instructors and acquire advanced equipment.

The truck driving instruction for the expanded program took place at Floyd’s Truck Center in Sidney, with classroom theory and simulator practice conducted on the WNCC Sidney Campus.

Doug Mader, WNCC’s executive director of workforce development and lifelong learning, expressed appreciation for Floyd’s support, highlighting the importance of the partnership in enhancing educational opportunities in the southern Panhandle. WNCC also plans to secure a northern Panhandle location to further broaden CDL program access.
